Crystal-Lee Naomi is the woman with the beautiful smile popping up everywhere these days, from ads in the Caribbean with Digicel, to being in music videos with Young Money, T-Pain and Ludacris. You might have seen her spread in Jet Magazine and the Source Magazine, or even out on the red carpet with a star or two. Ms. Naomi is most definitely global, so you know it is only right for us to get an exclusive interview with the jaw dropping Crystal-Lee Naomi.
-Where are you from, and what is your background?
I'm currently in LA, but I was born and raised in Florida. I'm half black, half white. I'm part Russian, Jamaican and German-Dutch.
-At what age did you decide you wanted to Model/Act?
At age 18. I was in my freshman year of college at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Fl. I contacted a talent manager I knew about in Atlanta (because there aren't many in Tallahassee) and drove all the way there with two friends. From that meeting, I knew.
-How much different is having a part in a commercial than a role in a movie?
100% different. Working on both is so much fun but commercials are a much lighter deal than film. In film, you're more invested. You want everything to be right.. you spend a lot of time on it.. it's your baby.
-What are your likes and dislikes about being in music videos?
Hanging out with my favorite singer or rapper is pretty awesome. I had the most fun with Plies on set for the video "Hypnotize." I had my heels and a pair of sandals with me and he took my sandals, put them in his back pocket and kept them all day! He would occasionally taunt me with them like he wasn't going to give them back! He was really playful & kept me laughing. I haven't had a bad experience on the set of a music video yet. I don't want to jinx myself though!
-How was your experience with Lil Wayne on the red carpet?
First of all, I was wearing this over the top, ornate Victorian-inspired outfit on my first red carpet in November so it was cold and it started to rain, so it started off rough! But once everything started to get going, it was great. DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and even Stephen Hill was there. It was a huge event.
-What would you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your career so far?
My biggest achievement is my lead role in the film "The Magic Ribbon." I had to dance, I had to cry, I got to meet and work with so many awesome people including Mia Michaels and.. I was the LEAD. That's everyone's goal. People go into show business to be the LEAD.
-Where do you see yourself within the next 3 years?
Hopefully in a feature film that my family members in Boston, New York, Florida & Jamaica can go see. If that happens in three years, I wouldn't know how to act! I'm serious, I wouldn't know if I wanted to pop a bottle or bust into tears! *laughing*
Thank you for doing this interview with us, I know we will be seeing alot more from you very soon.
Muah!
